Well here it goes, got to start somewhere when we want to save big money. First step, cutting down on groceries expenses. I’ve started since the beginning of January to be careful in how much I spend at the supermarket. I solely buy what is on rebate. There are often deals up to half price and sometimes more. Since the beginning of the year I only spent around 100.00$ all in all on food and that’s over a month and a half. I an since a while many canned items in my cupboards and many more dried foods that were just sleeping there, so I’ve decided to use up whatever I had at home already instead of buying more,
it’s pretty incredible how much money is sleeping in our cupboards. So first big spending cut in half already since the beginning of the new year.

Second sacrifice will come at the beginning of next week. I will call the cable company to cut my services with them, too bad but it’s one service I can easily go without that costs me 80.00$ a month, so from now to me leaving it’s a saving of 1280.00$. If I save 100.00$ a month for the next 16 months on groceries, that’s 1600.00$. Add them up and it’s 2880.00$ of savings until I’m ready to leave. It’s a really good start, I think... It’s a first step, but a really important one in my point of view.
