Today I went to see a place I have known about for a long time, but never took the time to actually go and see it. The Refuge Pageau has become an institution in Amos in the region of Abitibi-Temiscamingue. It is in fact a refuge for wild animals that have been injured or simply abandoned by their parents when young. The refuge as for mission to return the animals into the wild whenever possible. Sometimes it is simply impossible to send the back knowing that they probably would not survive on their own, they then become permanent residents of the refuge. The animals found in the refuge are types of animals that normally live in the wild in the region of Abitibi-Temiscamingue. Michel and Louise Pageau started this refuge over 20 years ago and are still working on saving the lives of animals.
