I've been wondering for a while now, if I should buy an Ipod touch for my travel. Music is a must have, that was not the issues I was debating with myself over. If it would only be the issue of music it would have been easily solved with an Ipod nano. The cost was the first thing that was in my mind. 200$ for an Ipod touch 4th generation of 8Gb, 300$ for 32Gb or 400$ for the 64Gb. What to choose? I finally opted for the cheapest one with a sacrifice for less storage.
8Gb is still enough for quite a lot of music. I will be carrying my laptop with me, that way I will be able to download and backup whatever is on the Ipod and change the music selections at the same time.
But what about the apps I will want and need while traveling. First with just that Ipod I can get rid of a few things from my backpack that I will have has apps, and so many more useful tools.
-First : Calculator that I wanted to bring, that was half the size of the Ipod. But also currency converter and spread sheets if needed.
-Two : Many maps apps are available for downloading and using offline, less paper to carry around.
-Three :An alarm clock, there are some really small ones but it's in, why not use it?
-Four : Calendar and phone book, always useful and handy to have close by.
-Five : Reading books, yes it can be used as a book reader too.
-Six : Banking, I can do some quick banking transactions, whenever I have an open wi-fi network.
-Seven : Notes and sketching apps will be useful.
-Eight : Translator helping apps will also be very useful on the beginning of my trip.
-Nine : Many more small utility apps will be following me also.
-Ten : And last you can even use your Ipod has a phone if needed, either with Facetime, Skipe or other apps that will let you use your Ipod has a phone with a wi-fi connection.
Now many are wondering why not bring an Iphone and have the 3G network at all time instead of only the wi-fi connection. Simple because I do not need it. I especially do not need the expense of having to pay cell fees every month.
I will be writing an article, in the next week or so, on apps to bring in your Ipod while traveling.
I have now found ten good reasons to bring an Ipod touch traveling with me. And I've only had it for a week now, imagine what else I can find that will be useful for traveling. If anyone of you guys have any ideas of apps that might be good, please let me know in the comments below.
