Sunday Oct. 28th
Our bus for Salta, Argentina leaves at 9h30. We must go through the border and arrive in Salta around 5pm. (27000 PC = 56$), the buses are more expensive that in Peru and Bolivia, but also more comfortable and the toilets are working, we also get small snacks on long distance buses (a little extra). We go the the hostel 'Backpackers Bar & Suites'' and get a dorm room of twelve beds for 40 Pesos Argentina (8.41$) each.

Monday Oct. 29thWe spend the end of the morning walking a bit around town and we go to the cable cars to get up to the mirador (35 Pesos),a very nice view on the town that seems much bigger from this point of view. We then go to a small place that was recommended for eating empanadas and they were definitely the best ones I have eaten. The name is ''Patio del Empanadas'' at the corner of San Martin and Islas Malvinas streets, choose the tables with yellow tablecloth. We spend the rest of the afternoon at the hostel and go back in town to snoop around and for supper. One of our friends (Vanessa) is leaving us the next day to go to Iguazu, so it's a goodbye supper, the group of four now will be one of three. We tread ourselves after 3 months for me of being in poorer countries, a good Argentinian steak and mashed potatoes are very welcome and very excellent.

Tuesday Oct. 30th We get up at 4am to take a bus at 5h30 to go to Tilcara a bit north of Salta. The morning sky is grey and I hope it clears out because we are going for a small trek. We get there at 10am, we are a few minutes late but we are not last to get there. We leave at 11 for our small trek with llamas, very nice walk and llamas are quite brighter than I could have thought. Back from the trek at 3pm and we find a hostal ''Hostal Tilcara'' for 40PA (8.41$ Can.) each for an 8 bed dorm that we will all to us three. The hostal is very nice and clean.
